Department of English in Youth festival 2022- MKBU

Hello! Recently in September, we had a Three day-long youth festival at our university, Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji University Bhavnagar. "AMRUT RANG- YUVA URJA MAHOTSAV 2022".

AMRUT RANG- YUVA URJA MAHOTSAV 2022

This year our Department- Department of English MKBU had a wonderful performance in Amrut Rang- Yuva Urja Mahotsav 2022. Generally due to a lack of financial budget government colleges and Departments cannot hire private tutors for the youth fest as the private colleges do so it becomes difficult for the Departments to have great performance and resulting in competition in private colleges as the number of students in the department is also less. But this year perhaps along with our hard work and dedication we also had luck and good support which took us to this wonderful performance which also brought results and medals to our department. According to HOD Dr. Dilip Barad sir and documentation, this number of medals to the Department of Youth festival is won after more than 1 or 2 decades.

Glimpses from the selection done in the department before sending our entries.

MY EXPERIENCE OF YOUTH FESTIVAL

We have always heard in every competition that winning is always participating in competitions. Working hard for it is important because we learn through participating. I have been participating in youth since my bachelor. I participated in the first and second year of my Bachelors and later youth wasn't organized due to the corona pandemic. And this year was my last chance to participate in the youth festival and to win a medal as I could gain a rank in the last two participation.

This year I participated in Clay modeling- a completely new event for me, I had never tried hands-on clay modeling before participating. And the Rangoli making competition. I participated in its last Youth fest also but unfortunately, I could win the rank and my experience helped me to win this time perhaps. I practiced clay modeling for around 7 days and learned it from the basics with the help of Sailesh Dabhi sir (co-ordinator of Kalakendra powered by Samaldas Arts College).

Here are my practice models-

In the competition, the topic I chose was Teacher and student-

For Rangoli competition medium of Rangoli also plays an important role. The last time I didn't have rangoli, it was Mukhvas. This time I decided to do my Rangoli with Rangoli colors only. I decided on various designs. But then I realized the Rangoli-making competition is called Indian Rangoli so later I decided to do a simple Rangoli with flowers in a completely provided place.

The designs I prepared-

Rangoli I did in the competition

In both events, I won 3rd position. In a way, I got a 100% result. Participating is always fun but winning it always gives satisfaction. And as it's said, winning is good but winning together is best. Bringing historic results to the Department of English is very adorable. Not only I but even my classmates feel proud that we could bring pride to the Department.

This year this youth was not only a participant but I also worked as a volunteer in events organized at the Department. I am in a post-GS (according to its tradition, one who tops the class is GS in the Department). Being a leader brings a lot of responsibility. Till today I have only played my role and left but this time motivating juniors to participate, planning the selection day, gathering them, and most important collecting the data and documents from the students and sending our entries with any errors in the form. Letting participants know if they have missed any details of documents is really a tough task. In the Institutes where they have enough staff, everything is done by staff but here in our Department mostly all the activities are carried out by students. The aim behind this is also to learn to multitask, do our work by ourselves, learn time management, and understand that background work is more important than anything done or presented. ‘Process is more important. Of Course, we are always under the guidance of faculties. Coordinating everyone, explaining their duties, motivating them for their events and helping them when they get stuck, and even concentrating on their own events.

When we work backstage we realize the real hard work of management and organizers. These were the really tough three days of youth. We realize the number of competitions, and minor errors in even writing an institute code can bring a problem. Overall it was full of learning and experiencing new things.

Not only participating but attending other events also make us realize that what we are doing and participating in is not difficult and that other participants are working. We worked for the youth for around 15 days but other institutes were working for it for 1 month or more. Practicing for months and not being able to perform or win is a different type of pain. While participation also brings a lot of learning. Attending youth fest is full of energy, amusement, and fun.

I hope this blog will be helpful to you in your personal participation. Thank you for visiting.
